How to Price Items on Vinted Without Undervaluing Them

Most new sellers price from what they paid, or from what other sellers are asking. Both are the wrong reference point.

Pricing is where most Vinted income quietly disappears. Not through dramatic mistakes — through a series of small ones that each cost a pound or two, repeated across every sale.

Use sold prices, not asking prices

Search your item and look at what comparable pieces actually sold for. Asking prices tell you what other sellers hope to get. Sold prices tell you what buyers were willing to pay — which is the only number that matters.

Compare like with like: same brand, similar condition, similar season. A coat that sold in October is not a guide for the same coat in May.

Work out your true margin — once, properly

Take a typical sale and subtract everything:

  • What the item cost you (or its replacement value if it was already yours)
  • Postage, if you are covering any of it
  • Packaging — mailers, tape, tissue
  • Your time, at whatever number feels honest

Most sellers have never done this and are surprised by the result. It is worth doing once on paper, because it permanently changes how you price. It is also the point at which it becomes obvious that £3 items are usually not worth listing.

Leave room for offers

Most Vinted buyers expect to negotiate. If you list at the absolute minimum you would accept, you have two options when an offer arrives — refuse and lose the sale, or accept and go below your floor.

Price 15–20% above your true minimum. You will accept most offers, and the ones you decline you can counter.

Why pricing too low also fails

This surprises people. An unusually cheap designer item does not read as a bargain — it reads as suspicious. Buyers assume it is a replica, damaged, or a scam listing, and scroll past.

Pricing well below the market also attracts the least pleasant buyers: the ones who still negotiate, still complain, and are most likely to open a case.

Handling price drops

If something has not sold in a few weeks, a drop is reasonable. But drop deliberately, not reflexively.

Vinted notifies people who have favourited an item when the price falls, so a single meaningful reduction generates more interest than repeated small ones. Constant small drops also train regular browsers to simply wait you out.

Before dropping, check the listing is actually being seen. Low views is a title or attributes problem, not a price problem — dropping the price will not fix it. See why your items aren’t selling.

Bundles

Bundle discounts are one of the few genuinely free wins on Vinted. A buyer taking three items pays one postage, so their per-item cost falls while your total rises. Set a modest bundle discount and mention it in your descriptions.
